Building Monitoring Program

Seeing Repeated Collisions at a Building or Campus and want to do something about it?

If you are finding dead or injured birds at the same building, school, office park, or campus, that usually means the problem is not random. It often points to specific dangerous windows that need attention.

MN Bird Coalition can help set up a crowd-sourced collision reporting system for your building or campus.

How the program works

We create a simple reporting system that allows anyone who finds a bird after a window strike to submit a report through our website. Participants scan a QR code posted on-site and fill out a short reporting form.

We can provide:

  • QR codes linked to a reporting form on our website

  • Simple instructions explaining the project and what to do

  • Guidance on where to post signs around a building or campus

Why this matters

Crowd-sourced reporting helps document where collisions are happening and which windows are the most dangerous. That data can be used to identify problem areas, support outreach to building decision-makers, and strengthen advocacy for bird-safe solutions.

Who this is for

This program is a good fit for:

  • Office buildings

  • Corporate campuses

  • Colleges and universities

  • Hospitals

  • Schools

  • Large residential or mixed-use properties

If people at a site are already noticing birds hitting windows, this gives them a way to turn those observations into useful data and action.
